Tennis / Golfer's Elbow

Tennis / Golfer's Elbow

Tennis Elbow is normally caused by overusing the muscle that is attached to your elbow, causing the tendon to become inflamed. The location of the Pain is on the bony lump ( lateral epicondyle ) on the outside of the elbow but can travel to your forearm and wrist.

Golfers' Elbows is also an overuse injury where the pain is on the inside ( medial ) of your elbow.

Although it is associated with sports, anyone who is doing a job where they are using the muscles of the forearms ie plumbers. electricians, and painters can also suffer.

Treatment

By using rest, stop any activity that is causing the problem and cold compresses ( bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel )can help to speed up recovery.

Painkillers including paracetamol and ibuprofen may help to reduce pain and inflammation.

Physiotherapy can be used to help increase the range of movement and relieve pain and stiffness.

Prestige Healthcare Clinicians can offer advice and recommendations including the use of a Tennis or Golfers Elbow support to help with pain relief.
